Editor's Verdict:

JoAnn Nix, founder of A Great Resume, seems to know exactly what she's talking about when it comes to resumes and we're impressed with her attitude.

The site reads very well and we get the impression that getting in touch with JoAnn doesn't just lead to a printed resume, it leads to a worthwhile investment in your future. It would appear that JoAnn invests a lot of her time, effort and experience in you, the client, and we suspect working with her might well be a great confidence booster as she encourages you to invest in yourself too.

Unfortunately, we can't rate JoAnn on her value for money because she doesn't offer any indication of how much her services cost. We understand that each service is designed for the client specifically and we appreciate the sentiment, but we're left wondering if her costs are just too high and that's why they aren't listed, not even as a ballpark. Most of the competition can give a cost indication based on the level of experience and make it clear the cost is ballpark.

However, we do appreciate that JoAnn's approach seems much more complex than most. She offers a huge list of services, some of which you will need and some you won't and of course there could be all manner of combinations. Bearing in mind how in-depth the analysis seems to be and how many services there are on offer, we wonder if it would be a very time-consuming process, only to find out you can't afford it.

There are some encouraging extra services on AGreatResume.com, in particular, branding workshops and career coaching, which is strongly encouraged.

If you join the branding programme you receive:

  1. Twelve months enrolment in the branding club.
  2. Sixteeen view-on-demand web seminars (one each week)
  3. Weekly e-mails with branding techniques and exercises
  4. A Success Branding Guide
  5. Countless tips, techniques, and tools
  6. Participation in free teleseminars
  7. Networking opportunities
  8. Three x 30 minute coaching sessions with JoAnn to help you during your branding process

This sounds like a good investment to us, but again - no price listed.

We're pretty sure JoAnn is a great investment, but would perhaps only recommend her to top level staff or business owners who can afford to pay a high price for a service that is crucially important for their career stage.
