Editor's Verdict:

e-Resume has a very impressive website, which is succinct and professional and we like their style. They seem to be a down to earth, approachable type of business and when we read through their site it felt more like a conversation with an individual than a laborious task trying to fight our way through the jargon and the sales. The details of what e-Resume have to offer are written out simply and are incredibly easy to digest.

e-Resume state something that we haven't heard on other websites. They say they are not the company for you if you want your resume to be written by one dedicated person. At first we thought this sounded like a bad thing, but when we continued to read on it is actually very reassuring. e-Resume has a team of staff and we all know that two heads are often better than one. They use these highly skilled and experienced staff to contribute to your resume, ensuring it's the best it can be.

e-Resume also say they don't send out resumes to sub-contractors, it's all completed in-house. This is very different from the rest of the market and we feel it's a big bonus if it's the right team.

There is a wealth of useful information on the e-Resume site about resumes in general, which is something few competitors offer, especially in such a considered and helpful format. e-Resume step away from the ordinary too and consider people who really do need their services, rather than those who might just benefit a little, such as:

  1. "English is not your first language or grammar is not your best quality. If this is the case errors will probably occur within your resume and this is a terrible first impression for a reader.
  2. You haven't written a resume in years and have no idea what is expected these days. Do they still put an objective on a resume?
  3. You have had a career that has included a lot of job hopping or gaps in employment and an expert is necessary to de-emphasize these areas with your career highlights in mind.
  4. You took time off of work and want to get back into the job market."

e-Resume also consider formatting, which is yet another thing we've yet to see from competitors in such an organized manner. Their options are:

  • "Reverse Chronological Format resumes are perfect if you've had a career that with time has demonstrated career growth, no layoffs, continued career direction and a job that is progressive and upwardly mobile. That is the majority of resumes are written in this format. You start with the job you had most recently and work backwards. The key is to make your resume stand out.
  • Functional Resume Format is where you had your perfect job seven years ago and want to get back into that area. This style is skills-focused. In this layout, you are presenting successes you've had in specific functional areas. The resume will not be focused on where you worked or dates, instead it emphasizes skills that are key to the job you are seeking. This is also a great format if you are re-entering the job market after time off.
  • Hybrid Resume Format is a cross between the functional resume and chronological resume. It brings career highlights to the forefront followed by your career history. It also masks gaps in employment and stagnant work histories to allow the reader to see your strengths. We offer some tips in this section that should help in this effort."

Refreshingly, e-Resume also makes no assumptions that you already fully understand how resumes operate and why they are important and they offer a useful section on cover letters and other documents, so you know exactly what's expected. They also comment on some of the most common pitfalls when circulating your resume.

We hold a lot of faith in e-Resume and we appreciate their attitude. Their services are pretty standard, but they take a slightly different approach and invest time in getting it right as well as increasing your knowledge and understanding of this business. They have three easy steps: (i) send them your work history, (ii) speak to one of their professionals, (iii) they write your resume and continue to edit it until you're happy (they call this their "happy guarantee"). We couldn't find any information on turnaround time so we suggest you clarify with e-Resume in your initial enquiries. Click on the button below to visit e-Resume.net!
