With over 20 years of experience behind her Pontow is a genuine master of resumes and it's not just something she makes up to have her own resume sounding impressive! Pontow has trained other resume writers to write resumes, she has written books on the subject and has written thousands of resumes herself. Her site is excruciatingly long-winded, but when you extract the sheer amount of knowledge from within the pages you realize that this woman is clearly one of the best you will find. You'd be forgiven for thinking the site is one long promo for her book, Proven Resumes: Strategies That Have Increased Salaries, and it is, but she does also offer a resume writing service. Pontow offers only two levels of service and this depends on the number of jobs you have and what salary you're on. Where she differs from generic resume companies is in her provision of an incredibly personal service, which is meticulous, intensive and we'd guess, worth every penny. Pontow works closely with clients on a one-to-one basis and seems genuinely dedicated to writing the best resume she possibly can for her clients. She has clear principles, refusing to bump anyone up the waiting list if it means not delivering for another client on time. Her 5-8 business day turnaround is impressive for the amount of work she puts into each resume. She notes that she can turn around quicker at a higher fee, but only if it means other clients who have already paid won't suffer. As part of her resume writing service, Pontow will spend time reviewing your current resume and then ask you many targeted questions from which she will then extract detailed answers. She uses this information to consider key skill sets before setting about re-vamping your CV. She gives strong examples on one of her web pages (unfortunately this page is not identifiable by the page title or the page itself), which we'd like to quote here because it's a perfect expression of her capability: "I worked with someone who oversees Global Telecommunications accounts. Her old resume had this statement buried in a block of other uninteresting statements: Provide pre and post sales support for global accounts. When I asked: "What is the level of revenue generated from such accounts? How many projects do you manage annually?" She said, "I manage the XXX account with a current annual revenue plan of $84 million. As the Global Service Installation Lead, last year I managed 525 projects; 200 new installations and 325 maintenance projects." Compare the statement above to her new one below, along with the bolded subhead I used to start that section: Management of Global Service Installations for $72 Million Account - Lead the Global Service Installation Team in management of the X account with current annual revenue plan of $84 million; held responsibility for managing 200 new installations and 325 maintenance projects in 2001." Another impressive example is replacing 'HR Management' with 'Multi-Division HR Management & Corporate Expansion Management' - anyone can see the improvement in this. Pontow really seems to take every resume personally, treating each as if it were her own. Her attitude and drive is astounding and refreshing amongst other generic services. In fact, Pontow seems to be doing herself a disservice by providing so much information for free on her website, although this does demonstrates her infallible knowledge on the subject. We're not sure where the huge volume of free information on this website actually comes from, such as "Why most cover letters fail!!!!" and "Market your 10 hottest skills". It's written in a heavy sales style and we wonder if a lot of this information is taken from her book and perhaps also the workshop materials that are available from the site. You may not feel the need to purchase her book as the website is so jammed with information. Perhaps it is a deliberate ploy: provide so much information that people will become overwhelmed and feel the need for a 'simpler' book format! Pontow provides contact details in the form of an email address and telephone number (425-398-7378), although email is the mode which she uses most. We can't give Pontow a 5-star rating on account of her user-unfriendly website ProvenResumes.com. If you can't bear to look at it, we recommend you get her book, which will probably get you most of the way towards writing your own exquisite resume anyway or alternatively you could check our out no 1 website in thie category Resume Edge Review.
