Editor's Review:

ResumeBaker.com is not, strictly speaking, a resume writing service. Rather, they take your existing resume and give it to a team of designers. Those professional designers then create a unique look for your resume, taking your personality, skills, experience and preferences into account in a bid to draw the employer’s eye towards you.

If you’re in need of some editing work, you’ll need to use another resume writing service before you approach Resume Baker. Once you’re totally happy with the words included in your resume, however, that’s where this company can come in handy. Your words are handed over to the professional designers, who think carefully about the industry you’re working within, and then design your resume to suit it. For example, if you are a baker, they can produce an elegant resume which suits the boutique feel of a patisserie. If you’re a graphic designer or artist, you could choose to have a resume which will reflect your work and energy.

So, you’ve decided that you want your resume to stand out, great. What’s next? Essentially you just choose the kind of resume design you’re looking for, pay, and then send your file to the team. Within 3 days, they should send the completed resume back to you. You then have two weeks to request minor changes (although you only have two opportunities to do this, so it’s best to make sure you have all your changes noted down in advance).

If you require further edits once the two weeks are up, you have to pay an additional fee. This isn’t too much of a problem because making edits only costs $8 a time, so won’t break the bank. Still, it’s a bit of a shame that you aren’t provided with the source files so that you could make the changes yourself, particularly if you’re in a hurry and wish to edit your resume quickly.

Prices are not too high, but this also isn’t a cheap service considering they don’t do any writing on your behalf. You’re paying for a professional designer to work on your resume though, so their time is valuable. If your resume is longer than one page then you must pay an additional $10 per page, above the regular price. 1 page resumes tend to cost $65-$75, which should be affordable for most people. You then print out the resumes yourself, so you’ll need access to a decent printer.

Aside from the gallery, there’s not much to the website. The FAQ is fine, albeit relatively short. If you have further questions about Resume Baker’s services, you can chat to a member of the team using the instant chat feature on the website, or contact customer services through an on-site form.

ResumeBaker is a useful service if the design of your layout may impact on whether an employer looks at your resume. However, they don’t offer writing services or any job-seeking advice. Subsequently, its uses are limited. In short, it’s a good service to use once your resume is already written.
