Editor's Verdict: The CV Centre's tagline is "The UK's leading CV consultancy" and there seems to be a lot of evidence to support this claim. The CV Centre has a clear four-option range of CV writing services, from "starter" CVs for individuals with less than 6 months experience to "advanced" CVs for individuals with over 20 years of experience. The fees increase with level of experience, from £32.50 to £54.50 - which seems equitable. The company has been in business for eleven years and the most impressive thing about them is their 100% money back guarantee if you're not happy with your CV. They also say they will continue to re-write your CV until you're completely happy with it, thereby also offering 100% satisfaction guaranteed. These are significant offerings by anyone's standards. The Managing Director also gives his personal guarantee. The service is clearly impressive, but the website could be a little more sophisticated. It is easy to browse, but there are some long pages and they're littered with different fonts and colors, which can sometimes distract from the content. A free CV review service is offered for anyone who may be sceptical that the CV Centre can help them. This is reassuring for new customers and shows confidence from the CV Centre. The chargeable service seems pretty straightforward, but although there is a little bit of blurb on the site about the qualifications and experience of the CV writers, we're left wondering a little about exactly how they go about the process and just what we would get for our money. The CV Centre also offer a covering letter writing service and produce this in the same style as your CV. These letters are tailored to specific job adverts or can be speculative; they'll even fill in the addresses for you if you provide the information. To complete the service the CV Centre offers copies of your CV on either CD or paper. They pay attention to detail too, offering re-writable CDs for additional files you may want to add and high quality paper for that extra finishing touch to the printed copies. This same careful approach is used for the CV distribution service they offer, ensuring your CV doesn't go to any previous employees or to your current employer. The cost of CV distribution isn't mentioned on the website, nor is it mentioned for a couple of handy additional services that are strangely buried deep within the site: reference sheet preparation and application form completion. Everyone needs references and anyone who's ever had the arduous task of completing a job application form knows just how painful this can be at times, so we'd like to see these services elaborated upon. It's a shame the express service is also hidden deep within the site as there is an impressive turnaround time of just 4 hours. There's also a small note in this section to notify us that turnaround times are restricted to Monday-Fridays, excluding weekends and bank holidays. Although the sites pages could perhaps do with a little re-working we certainly found the site easy to use and browsing through the free services on offer from the CV Centre is certainly a great place to start!
